BLUES
Some excellent
passing from William Hunt and Ben Biltcliffe saw Wakefield United take
the lead with a goal from Cavan Bush. Although Wakefield rattled the
posts on numerous occasions it was the opposition who went in 2 – 1
leaders at half time. The second half saw some dexterous goalkeeping
from Oliver Windscheffel with Jared Leeworthy, Joel Wainwright and
Liam Hicks showing gritty determination. Very well deserved Keencost
player of the match went to Kieran Jackson for massive improvement.
REDS
WUFC put in a
spirited performance this week against Howden Clough.
Naomi Briggs showed some confident tackling and again Thomas Render
gave
some strong keeping against a tough opposition. Matthew Hatfield gave
defiant defending and kept strong throughout the game. A poor start
to a the second half before WUFC picked up the game, though the
opposition proved to be the stronger players, Tommy Wray confidently
tackled well and showed great passing skills. Joseph Wigglesworth kept
strong and worked hard when spirits were dipping. Overall WUFC were
the weaker team but worked hard and showed spirit. Keencost player of
the match went to Thomas Render.

WAKEFIELD UNITED
SUNDAY 16TH DECEMBER - AWAY
BLUES
Captain Tommy Wray led a battling Wakefield United out
in freezing conditions. The first half saw a confident display in goal
from William Hunt with Joel Wainwright and Liam Hicks providing a
solid defence. The second half started with Wakefield trailing 2-0 but
the determination of Matthew Hatfield paid off with a great pass to
Cavan Bush who scored a well deserved goal. It was only good goal
keeping from the opposition that prevented Keencost player of the
match Ben Biltcliffe from scoring on numerous occasions. A fantastic
game from every player on the field. Well done for an excellent
display of team spirit
REDS
An excellent performance in appallingly bitter conditions. The reds
looked strong from front to back, with Mathew Hatfield and Brandon
Summers denying Ossett any clear shots at stand in keeper Cavan
Bush. Excellent wing play from Callum Hicks and Naomi Briggs and some
neat touches up front by Jake Goldthorpe. However player of the match
went to Joseph Wigglesworth for a strong central midfield display with
goals from Callum Hicks, Naomi Briggs and a long ranger from Joseph
Wigglesworth
