ROTHWELL JUNIORS

WAKEFIELD UNITED
SUNDAY 13TH
JANUARY
2008 – AWAY
REDS
With half a squad
and one less than a full team Wakefield had an unsure start
against Rothwell. Conceding only a couple of goals in the first
ten minutes Wakefield were enjoying plenty of possession and
with plenty of attackers when Wakefield were in possession they
were always looking to go forward and find the front players.
However this meant that defence was often a second thought.
Without either of our goalkeepers, Cory Welbourne stepped
forward and kept a cool head in goal for the first game. Left to
do a lot of the work at the back was Carcraft player of the
Match James Hardwick who picked up the award for some great
tackles and hard work. A flurry of goals from the experienced
Rothwell side meant the first half finished 6 - 0. Wakefield
carried on battling for their first goal of the game but this
allowed quick counter attacks from Rothwell.
BLUES
The first half of
this game and Wakefield lost some of their shape with the whole
team at one end on a couple of occasions but a quick swap around
at half time meant we only conceded a couple of goals in the
second half. Cory Welbourne now making an impact out of goal
with midfielders Todd Crawford and Carcraft player of the match
William Skidmore. Proving to be a lucky place for our
strikers Wakefield's hard work all morning paid off when a
brilliant pass in from Will found Callum Moore in front of goal
with just the goalkeeper to beat. Callum's first goal of the
season and Wakefield's second at Rothwell.
