SUNDAY 2ND MARCH 2008HOME

Wakefield Utd maintained their winning run with a 5-3 victory over Gomersal and Cleckheaton in almost gale force conditions. A tough first half with brilliant Wakefield defending from Tom Eaton , Bill Brooke, Jack Daly and William Booth ended 0-0. The second half saw Wakefield Utd able to play a more attacking game and William Oesterlein opened the scoring followed by 2 great strikes from Oliver Vine before Gomersal responded. Adam Osterlein put the game beyond doubt before Aaron Agus scored his first goal for United in only his second appearance. Gomersal salvaged 2 late goals but the match belonged to Wakefield. A special mention goes to Harry LLoyd-Anderson who battled hard despite picking up an early head injury. Contenders for Arrow Self Drive Player of the Match were Keiron Biltcliffe and Thomas Shann however honours went to the captain Luke Reeves for an outstanding midfield performance

MARSDEN

WAKEFIELD UNITED

SUNDAY 9TH MARCHAWAY

United's strong finish to the season continued with an impressive turnover away at Marsden. United started strongly and worked extremely hard. They were unlucky not to score a hat full of goals as chances were made by a determined and skillful passing game through defence and midfield on a very muddy surface, peppering the Marsden goal.  However Wakefield conceded first, a well taken effort struck from outside the box giving Kieran Biltcliffe no chance. United though were not in the mood to be second and hit back quickly when William Oesterlein took his chance after great play by his team mates. Marsden came again and snatched a second to take them into the break 2-1 ahead. For the third week running Wakefield's second half determination overpowered a well organised opposition. United scored 6 with no reply. Oliver Vine and Luke Reeves started the onslaught with further strikes from William Oesterlein and Adam Oesterlein bagging 2 each to make the score 6-2. Oliver Vine got his brace before William Oesterlein completed his second hat trick in two weeks. Another great team effort meant Thomas Shann really earned his Arrow Self Drive player of the match for his brilliant performance in midfield.

FINAL SCORE - MARSDEN  2 - 8  WAKEFIELD UNITED

HEPWORTH UNITED

WAKEFIELD UNITED

SUNDAY 16TH MARCHAWAY

Wakefield Utd's push up the table continued with a superb all round performance in difficult conditions at Hepworth. William Oesterlein opened the scoring with two goals for Wakefield in a tight first half with Hepworth pulling one back before the break. It seemed that Wakefield had created a mammoth task for themselves as they were to play uphill with a biting wind in the second half. Despite all the odds the whole team shone and took control of the game; the passing was tremendous. Keiran Biltcliffe in goal made two excellent saves including one incredible stop. William Oesterlein went on to score two further goals along with two from Oliver Vine and one from Aaron Agus. A fantastic long range shot and goal from captain Luke Reeves was set up by Adam Oesterlein. A lot of the play was created from a solid defence led by Tom Eaton and Bill Brooke. William Booth controlled the left side of the field with good solid tackling whilst Thomas Shann controlled the midfield throughout the match. Arrow Self Drive Players of the Match went to Oliver Vine for tenacious play and Jack Daly for an outstanding performance in right back setting up one of the goals with a wicked cross.

FINAL SCORE - HEPWORTH UNITED  1 - 8  WAKEFIELD UNITED

A fantastic end to the season for Wakefield Utd! The second half saw Wakefield push on with good all round team performances and two more goals from Oliver Vine. Arrow self-drive player of the match went to Luke Reeves for outstanding captaincy throughout the season.
