Welcome to the Under 13's Match Report Write Ups for December 2007.
LONGCROFT LIONS

WAKEFIELD UNITED
SUNDAY 23RD
DECEMBER 2007 – AWAY
The
u13's
travelled to top of the league Longcroft Lions. The first half was
dominated by United who played a great first thirty five minutes.
Hard tackles and great effort from all the players led to two goals
being scored by Adam and William Oesterlein. The team made a host of
chances, a great shot from outside the box by Jack Daly just
went over the bar. Wakefield hit the post and Longcroft's keeper
made a string of saves. It was against the run of play when Longcroft
Lions got one back just before the break. The second half saw the
Lions come at Wakefield. They scored a quality goal that was in
keeping with the high standard of football being played. As
Wakefield pushed forward the defence was always likely to
be vulnerable, Longcroft went ahead when a penalty
was awarded after good build up work. Keiran Biltcliffe made a great
save but could not prevent the follow up going in to make it 3-2.
The conditions started to tell as both teams tired, Wakefield pushed
on again however the Lions broke and scored the fourth and killer
goal. Wakefield had a couple of great chances including hitting the
post and a strike from Jordan Firth forcing a great save. The whole
team deserve a mention, this was a day when missed chances cost
the team dear. Thomas Shann and Luke Reeves were solid in midfield
and put in 100%, William Oesterlein had Brazilian style touches on
the wing, Bill Brooke was inspired but the Arrow Self Drive player
of the match went to Tom Eaton who again showed all the skill and
determination to enable him to stand out in a great team.
