played at home for the first game of the season against worthy
opponents Hemsworth Miners. The home team although only fielding
9 players gave a good account of themselves with excellent goal
keeping skills from Cameron Dye and a brilliant defensive
performance from debutant Bhavin Patel. Other solid performances
of note came from Robert Bottomley, James Murphy, Jake Tolson and
James Bree. Connor Playford went near a few times with attempts
over the net however it was Matthew Peel who was on target for
United with a superb header. All in all a great team effort with
plenty of potential for the future. The player of the match was
awarded to Joe Howard for 100% effort throughout the match with
the final score being an 8-1 win for the visitors

STANLEY UNITED
SUNDAY 23RD SEPTEMBER 2007 - HOME
Wakefield United played some good football from the start with
some super balls through laid on by Joe Howard. Connecting first
for the hosts was a superb ball into the top corner from Connor
Playford. The visitors fielding a full strength team soon
overpowered United however the player of the match Bhavin Patel
showed excellent tackling skills throughout and was likened to a
terrier with a bone chasing the Stanley strikers. Goalkeeper
Cameron Dye also had a superb game with solid performances also
from Robert Jukes, James Murphy, Robert Bottomley and Jake Tolson.
During the second half Matthew Peel came into his own and struck
home an excellent shot to bring the hosts tally to 2 however it
wasn't enough to stop Stanley who came out overall winners 11-2.

SUNDAY 30TH SEPTEMBER 2007 - HOME
First round of the cup saw a plucky
Wakefield United fall to a 13-2 defeat at the hands of visitors
Ackworth. United could only muster a team of 8 however each and
every player showed their determination and spirit shining through
to the end. The two United goals came from Joe Howard with a superb
shot wrong footing the visitors keeper and Robert Jukes powering a
cracking volley into the top corner. An excellent performance from
Goalkeeper Cameron Dye earned him the Player Of The Match.
