WAKEFIELD UNITED

ROTHWELL JUNIORS
SUNDAY 6TH JANUARY – HOME
Post
Christmas match blues for Wakefield United U11s as they lost 9-0
at home to Rothwell Juniors. Wakefield gave a gutsy performance
but it wasn't enough as the home team struggled to fire any
shots on target. Excellent performances came from the GBM
Player of the Match Joe Newman whose enthusiasm shone throughout
and defenders Bhavin Patel and Daniel Clark. Goalkeeper Cameron
Dye also gave a super display. Individually Wakefield have some
excellent players and all that is needed now is for the team
spirit to return. Nevertheless a good effort from Wakefield,
better luck next week boys.

WAKEFIELD UNITED
SUNDAY 13TH JANUARY 2008 - HOME
A
scrappy start to the match from Wakefield enabled Royston to
capitalise and take an early lead in the first round of this cup
encounter. Royston continued to press hard in the first half
however United battled well with some good defensive work from Jake
Tolson and Bhavin Patel. Wakefield went into the second half with a
renewed vigour with some superb shots from Connor Playford that
unfortunately just wouldn't hit the back of the net. The home team
continued to keep their heads high and eventually the elusive goal
came from a one-two move from Connor Playford and Daniel Clark who
subsequently shot a super volley past the Royston keeper. Some
excellent play at times from Wakefield with a particular mention to
Joe Newman, James Murphy and Joe Howard with the GBM Player of the
Match being awarded to Josh Couser who ran his socks off throughout
the game. The scoreline however did not reflect the spirit of this
game at a 9-1 win for Royston, the match was anything but a
whitewash as Wakefield gave a very good account of themselves.
Super play boys this week with a great team effort and good
performances also from keeper Cameron Dye, Jamie Clarke and Lewys
Irvine.
