WAKEFIELD UNITED

CROFTON
SUNDAY 17TH FEBRUARY – HOME
Wakefield United excelled in this friendly match against
Crofton (B) and really took control of the match from the
start. Quick off the mark in the first few opening minutes and
Joe Howard scored the first for United with a wonderful pass
through from Joe Newman. Keeping up the pace and Joe Howard
took another chance making the tally 2-0 with only 10 minutes of
the first half gone. Crofton however then started to fight back
after their slow start and Wakefield had to defend with some
excellent tackles from Josh Couser, Jake Tolson, Bhavin Patel
and Robert Bottomley. Wakefield upped the tempo once again with
a torrent of goals coming from Daniel Clarke, Connor Playford,
Lewys Irvine and another from Joe Howard to make his hat trick.
Crofton replied with two consolation goals but the match
belonged to Wakefield with some excellent performances also from
James Murphy, Jamie Clarke, Joe Newman and keeper Camerone Dye.
The GBM Construction Player of the Match was awarded to Connor
Playford for some great balls through and superb pace that money
just can't buy. The final score was a 6-2 win to Wakefield. A
worthy performance from all the team and hopefully a run of
success to continue - well done to each and every player.

ST JOSEPHS

WAKEFIELD UNITED
SUNDAY 24TH FEBRUARY 2008 - AWAY
Wakefield United U11s played away to St. Josephs this week in a
David and Goliath battle with St. Josephs being the league
leaders and United trailing at the bottom of the league. During
the first half United more than held St. Josephs and it was only
nearing the end of the first half that the home team managed to
score three against United. The second half however was a
different matter and United seemed to lose heart as St. Josephs
continued with a barrage of goals. Disappointingly this didn't
reflect the hard work that United were putting in with super
performances defensively from Joe Newman, Jake Tolson, Matthew
Peel, Josh Couser and Robert Bottomley. Great efforts also came
from Lewys Irvine, Daniel Clarke, Joe Howard, Connor Playford
and keeper Cameron Dye but unfortunately it wasn't enough with
the final score being an 11-0 victory to St. Josephs. The GBM
Construction Player of the Match was awarded to Jamie Clarke for
a strong performance throughout.
