WAKEFIELD UNITED

STANLEY UNITED
SUNDAY 2ND DECEMBER
2007 – AWAY
Wakefield United
played hosts Stanley United in extremely wet conditions however
Wakefield continued to battle hard until the end. Wakefield are
showing real promise with 100% team effort from all the players
although they have yet to fully function as a team. Superb
performances came from debutant Joe Newman, Daniel Clarke, Jake
Tolson and Lewys Irvine. Matthew Peel scored an excellent goal
from a penalty and Wakefield were unlucky not to score any more
with some great efforts from James Murphy, Connor Playford and
Joe Howard. Keeper Cameron Dye again made some excellent saves
and great defensive play came from Josh Couser, Bhavin Patel and
Jamie Clarke. The GBM Construction Player of the Match was
awarded to Robert Bottomley for his continued efforts in
directing and encouraging his fellow players and also his
tackling skills. The final score was 9-1 in Stanley's favour
although Wakefield gave a very positive performance. Better
luck next time boys!

WAKEFIELD UNITED
SUNDAY 9TH DECEMBER 2007 - AWAY
Wakefield United got
off to a flying start well and truly holding their own ground
against the league leaders. Excellent defensive efforts from
Jake Tolson and Bhavin Patel ensured the visitors weren't
getting everything their own way. Good runs through also came
from Joe Howard and Joe Newman but unfortunately weren't
rewarded with any goals. At the end of the first half Wakefield
were only 3 goals down and were showing great promise. During
the second half the home team let in a few scrappy goals and
their confidence seemed to be waning however a fabulous strike
from the GBM Construction Player of the Match Connor Playford
thudded into the back of the net and Wakefield started to play
again with renewed vigour. Excellent efforts came from Daniel
Clarke, James Murphy and keeper Cameron Dye however each and
every player gave a 100%. When the whistle blew the final score
of 10-1 to Hemsworth didn't reflect a splendid performance from
Wakefield. Keep up this level of enthusiasm and good play boys
a win will come eventually.
