Welcome to the Under 10's Match Report Write Ups for March 2008.

DEWSBURY RANGERS

WAKEFIELD UNITED

SUNDAY 2ND MARCH 2008 - AWAY

Visiting Wakefield United soon had the run of this match with an amazing 6 goals going in, in the 1st half alone. George Crowcroft was the 1st to score with him easily beating the keeper. Next to score was Cameron Gollings who’s long range shot went straight past the keeper. Wakefields defence of Liam Gaffney & Kieran Bush stopped Dewsbury in their tracks, with keeper Jamie Denton not having to make any saves. More goals followed from Jack Alton, George Crowcroft and Luke Asquith. A last minute corner for Wakefield saw Elliot Brown head the ball into the back of the net. This ended the 1st half 6- 0 to Wakefield. In the 2nd half things got much tougher for Wakefield with Dewsbury stepping up their game, which in turn saw them get a couple past Wakefields goal. Wakefield answered back and shots from Leyton Davies, George Crowcroft and Cameron Gollings were saved or just went wide of the mark. Wakefield carried on fighting and Jack Alton managed to blast one past the keeper. A late goal from Luke Asquith put the game well and truly beyond Dewsbury and the match finished 8 – 2 to Wakefield, the joint A.M.L players of the match went to Liam Gaffney and Luke Asquith.

ALVERTHORPE A + B

WAKEFIELD UNITED

 SUNDAY 9TH MARCH 2008 - AWAY

REDS

Wakefield United recorded their first loss in over six months in this friendly match against Alverthorpe. Play set off well with both teams having equal play, but a penalty awarded to Alverthorpe saw them beat the keeper. With Alverthorpe on the up they quickly managed to grab another. Wakefield tried hard to get back into the game but another penalty was awarded to them, which ended the 1st half 3 – 0 to Alverthorpe. The 2nd half saw Alverthorpe get 3 more passed Wakefield, before they answered back with a George Crowcroft goal. Now with Wakefield attacking shots from Cameron Gollings, Jack Alton, Luke Asquith and George Crowcroft were stopped by the keeper. With time running out Wakefield couldn’t find another goal, the match finished 6 – 1 to Alverthorpe. The A.M.L player of the match went to Cameron Gollings.

FINAL SCORE - ALVERTHORPE A  6 - 1  WAKEFIELD UNITED

BLUES

The second game was a much better performance with more fluid passing; shots were soon coming from Liam Gaffney, Jack Alton and new player Josh Budby. Wakefields defence of Cameron Gollings & Kieran Bush kept pressure away from 1st half keeper Luke Asquith. With Wakefield winning more midfield balls passing from Jamie Denton saw Jack Alton beat the keeper, the 1st half ended 1 – 0 to Wakefield. The 2nd half carried on where the 1st half finished with Wakefield attacking, and this hard work paid off with George Crowcroft passing to Josh Budby who slotted it pass the keeper. Smooth passing again from Cameron Gollings, Jamie Denton and Luke Asquith saw Josh Budby grab his second of the match.  2nd half keeper Jack Alton made a couple of reflex saves to keep Alverthorpe off the score sheet. The A.M.L player of the match went to new player Josh Budby.

WAKEFIELD UNITED

HOWDEN CLOUGH

 SUNDAY 16TH MARCH 2008 - HOME

REDS 

Wakefield recorded their first loss since October 07 in this Huddersfield league match. Both teams played hard but Howden Clough won more midfield balls, meaning Wakefields defence of Kieran Bush and Liam Gaffney had they work cut out. Shots from George Crowcroft and Jack Alton went just wide of the mark. The 1st half ended with Howden Clough 1- 0 up. The 2nd half saw Howden Clough quickly grab another goal with the ball rebounding off keeper Leyton Davies. Wakefield picked up their pace and forced corner after corner, which saw Luke Asquith head the ball into the back of the net. Kieran Bush played non stop feeding ball after ball up front. Shots from Jack Alton, Cameron Gollings and George Crowcroft were saved by some outstanding goal keeping from Howden Clough. The match finished 2 - 1 to Howden Clough, the A.M.L player of the match went to Kieran Bush.

FINAL SCORE - WAKEFIELD UNITED  1 - 2  HOWDEN CLOUGH

BLUES

 Wakefield played Howden Clough ‘A in an 11 a side friendly match, again a close fought match played out with both teams giving it they all. Howden Clough quickly scored with a goal keeping error. Midfield work from Josh Budby, Elliot Brown and Leyton Davies saw shots coming from George Crowcroft, Jack Alton and Cameron Gollings. Luke Asquith played well in goal stopping shot after shot from a worked up Howden Clough. A defensive error saw the visitors grab their second goal, again Howden Clough’s keeper played well tipping a header from George Crowcroft over the cross bar. The A.M.L player of the match went to Luke Asquith.

FINAL SCORE - WAKEFIELD UNITED  0 - 2  HOWDEN CLOUGH

WAKEFIELD UNITED

NORRISTHORPE B

 SUNDAY 30TH MARCH 2008 - HOME

 Wakefield claimed back the 2nd place in the league with this decisive win over Norristhorpe. Wakefield had to work hard in the 1st half with Norristhorpe taking shots at goal, testing keeper Luke Asquith. Wakefield soon broke Norristhorpe with well timed passing which saw George Crowcroft hit the back of the net. More shots followed from Jack Alton and Josh Budby only to be saved by some great goal keeping from Norristhorpe. Cameron Gollings scored next to end the 1st half 2 – 0 to Wakefield. The 2nd half saw Wakefield step up a gear with them winning more midfield balls forcing shot after shot at goal. A goal keeping error saw Elliot Brown hitting the back of the net, pressure from Wakefield saw Norristhorpe score an own goal. At the other end of the pitch Wakefields defence of Jacob Alton and Kieran Bush kept Norristhorpe at bay. Liam Gaffney got on the score sheet thanks to passing from Jack Alton and George Crowcroft. Cameron Gollings grabbed 2 more goals to earn him his hat-trick. Luke Asquith made a couple of reflex saves to keep Norristhorpe off the score sheet to end the match 7 – 0 to Wakefield. The joint A.M.L players of the match were Jack Alton and Cameron Gollings.
