HOWDEN CLOUGH

WAKEFIELD UNITED
SUNDAY 2ND DECEMBER 2007 - AWAY
Wakefield had to
dig deep to beat Howden Clough in this Huddersfield League match
in treacherous weather conditions. Jack Alton set things off
with a superb volley which shot past Howden’s keeper. Wakefield
carried on with strong passing and shots at goal from Cameron
Gollings, George Crowcroft, Luke Asquith and Jack Alton, however
Howden Clough managed to beat keeper Leyton Davies to score.
Kieran Bush and Liam Gaffney battled hard in defence to keep
Howden out with Leyton Davies pulling off some cracking saves.
Sub Dion Gibson came on and sped things up and then with help
broke down Howden’s defence and quickly bagged 2 goals. The 1st
half ended 3 – 1 to Wakefield. In the 2nd half Howden came out
fighting and were soon attacking Wakefields goal mouth where 2nd
half keeper Luke Asquith made save after save to deny them any
spoils. Wakefield broke them and then were soon shooting at
Howden’s goal, nice passing from Dion Gibson and Cameron
Gollings saw George Crowcroft grab a well deserved goal. In the
last few minutes of play Howden Clough were awarded a penalty
which keeper Luke Asquith stopped, to end the match 4 – 1 to
Wakefield. The AML player of the match went to Luke Asquith.

RASTRICK

WAKEFIELD UNITED
SUNDAY 23RD DECEMBER 2007 - AWAY
Visiting Wakefield United had their work cut out by only having 6
players available in this Huddersfield League match. Things set of
nicely with Wakefield soon controlling most of the play, shots from
Jack Alton, Dion Gibson and George Crowcroft all just going wide of
the mark, or being stopped by some good goal keeping. Liam Gaffney
in goal had a very quite 1st half, Kieran Bush had an outstanding
game in defence stopping anything that came near Wakefields goal.
With Wakefield on the attack George Crowcroft managed to beat the
keeper to end the 1st half 1 – 0 to Wakefield. Early on in the 2nd
half Rastrick scored to level things off. Wakefield carried on
winning most balls in midfield with passing between Luke Asquith,
Jack Alton and Dion Gibson leaving Rastrick defence wide open, only
to be denied by the keeper. George Crowcroft again beat the keeper
in the last 5 minutes of play to end the match 2 – 1 to Wakefield.
The A.M.L player of the match went to Kieran Bush.
