Howden Clough

Take the A650 out of Wakefield heading towards Bradford, passing through East Ardsley.  You will eventually come to Tingley roundabout.  Take the 2^nd exit signposted A650 Bradford, passing the White Bear pub on your left.  Carry on this road past Mermaid Fish Restaurant.  You will then pass through a set of traffic lights, and The Halfway House pub on your left.  Eventually you will come to a set of lights at the crossroads with the A643.  Turn left at these lights signposted A643 Brighouse/Birstall into Howden Clough Road.  Initially the speed limit is 60 mph, but as you come to the bottom of the hill the speed limit is reduced to 30 – watch out for the speed camera!!  Take the 1^st turning left onto Upper Batley Low Lane and then the 2^nd right onto Windmill Lane, signposted Batley Sports and Tennis Centre.  Take the 2^nd turning left into the Sports Centre.  You will see a sign for the school car park – turn right at this sign and then follow the road round to the left – the road winds round a bit and eventually you will come to a car park in front of the pitches.

Alternatively: take the Batley Road out of Wakefield, passing through Kirkhamgate and West Ardsley.  Take the 1^st turning right after the Hare and Hounds pub in West Ardsley into Baghill Road and eventually you come to a set of lights at a crossroads.  Pass straight through the lights into Rein Road passing Woodkirk High School on your right.  Eventually you will join the A650 Bradford road – then follow directions as above.
